About Kate Ivory

Kate Ivory is in her thirties, and she isn't moving through the years quite as fast as the rest of us. She has blonde hair and grey eyes, is of medium height, and slim. She keeps fit by running and occasional visits to the gym. Her father died when she was twelve and her mother set off alone on her travels as soon as Kate had left school.

When we first meet her she is earning her living as a writer of romantic historical fiction - stronger on romance than on history. Sometimes, too, she needs to undertake casual work to make ends meet. She is bright without being intellectual, has great style in clothes, and rotten taste in men.

Her main characteristic is her interest in other people and their lives. She approaches strangers and asks personal questions that the rest of us wouldn't dare to, often to help out a friend in trouble.

She lives in a small house in Oxford with her ginger cat, Susanna.
