Oxford Shift
This is the seventh in the Kate Ivory series.
In 1998 a generous neighbour gave me tickets
for the Christ Church carol service. The college chapel is
also Oxfords cathedral the smallest in England.
The carol service is at the same time grand, with marvellous
music from organ and choir, and yet intimate. I have to confess
that all the pomp and ceremony on display made me imagine
a scene in which Kate Ivory (who else?) ran through the middle,
scattering croziers and choirboys as she went. Youll
have to read nearly to the final chapter before you reach
this scene, however.
Oxford Shift involves Kate, together with her
mother, Roz, in a search for a missing grandmother. Kate
also meets a promising new man
From The Times:
proof that
Stallwood has fought her way to the top of the tree in British
crime writing with some arrestingly written thrillers.
